Farmhouse Ramen Bowl

Making fancy ramen at home is easier than you think! Amaze your friends while saving a few bucks with this easy to make homemade ramen bowl!

This is a ramen bowl of my own design. Great for anyone who doesn’t have an asian grocery store nearby.

Ingredients

Bacon (1 slice)
1 Egg
Green Onion Stem
Ginger Root (1-2 inches)
Carrots
Bell Pepper
Cellary
Siracha
Sesame Oil
Rice Wine*
Sugar*
Soy Sauce*
Corn Starch*
Ramen Noodles

*Asian sauce ingredients you see on the bacon

Instructions

  1. Add about 1 quart of water to a boil.
  2. While water is warming, mix 1 Tbs sugar with 1 Tbs of Soy Sauce and 1 Tbs of Rice Wine. Stir until sugar is dissolved completely. Microwave for 30 seconds to help sugar dissolve. Set aside.
  3. When water is boiling, begin to soft boil 1 egg and set timer for 7 minutes. This is a good time to add the stems of your green onions and slices of chopped ginger to the boil. After about 3 minutes, add 1-2 slices of bacon to your boiling broth.
  4. Clean and chop vegetables. Set aside.
  5. When the egg is done boiling, remove it and put it into an ice bath. Remove bacon and set aside. Add vegetables to boiling water along with 1/4 of an instant chicken ramen flavor packet. Boil for an additional 1 minute to soften vegetables.
  6. Strain and remove vegetables and add noodles. Boil until soft.
  7. Heat a skillet to medium heat and add chopped bacon. Stir in the soy sauce mixture. Add a few pinches of corn starch. Stir until slightly thick then set aside.

Presentation is EVERYTHING

Just make it look like this! 🙂

This is the fun part when it all comes together!

First, add strained noodles.
Next pour in enough broth to cover 70% of the noodles. Peel the soft boiled egg, cut into slices, and add to the bowl.
Then add vegetables and bacon w/ sauce to the remaining space of the bowl.
Finally, adorn the bowl with a few stripes of Siracha sauce. Feel free to add hoisen sauce or sesame seeds for good measure if you want!

Its my mission to inspire starving artists to eat these budget friendly ramen bowls instead of the alternative… starving.
